The 5th TAFISA Games
were presented in Moscow

The organizers of TAFISA Games visited Moscow, the capital of Russia, where
the Games, which will be held in Šiauliai Region, was presented. Lithuanian
delegation consisted of representatives of the organizing committee of the
Games, Šiauliai City and Region Municipalities.
The meeting with Alexey Pyzhov, the Deputy Director, and Yuliya Beregovskaya,
the Head of International Relations Office, was held in Moscow City Physical
Education and Sports Department. Information about the Games was provided,
and athletes from Moscow were invited to participate in the Games. The hosts
told about sport for all movement in Russia, and programmes of mass sports.
The letters, concerning the participation of Moscow City Sports
Organisations, had already been sent to the institutions and organisations
of the city the following day. The Games were represented in the Embassy of
the Republic of Lithuania as well, where representatives of from media,
tourism, business, and sports organisations, as well as the members of
Society of Lithuanians in Moscow were invited. The representation was
organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Russia, Tourism
Information Centre of Lithuania in Moscow, Lithuanian Business Club in
Moscow, and the organizers of the Games. Andrius Pulokas, the Minister
Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania in the Federation of Russia,
acting as Chargé d'Affaires, and Vytautas Vainys, the Deputy Director
General of the Physical Education and Sports Department under the Government
of the Republic of Lithuania, attended the event.
Vladas Damulevičius, Director of Šiauliai City Administration, talked about
the preparation process for the Games, and Kęstutis Petraitis, the Head of
the Directorate of the Games, presented the concept, program, and
participation conditions of the Games. Gintaras Jasiūnas, the Head of
Šiauliai City Municipality Physical Education and Sports Department, talked
about the sport program, mass events, and international championships.
Jovita Viktoravičienė, the Coordinator of Tourism, reviewed the tours
proposed. The representatives of Akmenė, Joniškis, Kelmė, Pakruojis, and
Šiauliai Region described the local cultural-cognitive originality.
The presentation was attended by eighty guests: the Heads of Physical
Education and Sports Department of RF Ministry of Sports, Tourism, and Youth
Policy, the representatives of the Governments of Kamchatka, Chuvashia,
Yaroslavl, and Ingushetia Regions, the Director of Tourism Centre of
Estonia, and the Executive Director of Latvian Business Club. The carriers
also showed their interest: there were individual conversations with Irkutsk
airlines IrAero, operating flights to Kaunas, and the representatives of
AirBaltic in Russia. There was a number of media representatives, e.g.:
Reuters, Interfax-centre, Moskovskaia pravda, Argumenty nedeli, Ekho Moskvy,
and other journalists. The representatives of about 20 tourism agencies,
special magazines, and Internet websites were interested in tourist routes.
The members of the delegation attended official meeting in the Embassy of
the Republic of Lithuania as well, where the issues concerning visas, were
discussed.
