Family values, social inclusion and active citizenship - these are the pillars of the 5th TAFISA World Sport for All Games Siauliai 2012 that were presented in the European Parliament on June 14-15 th in Brussels.
The 2012 TAFISA Games, to be held in Siauliai on July 5-11 th, 2012, are a unique sporting event that is open to non-professional sportsmen from all nations and all age groups. A total of 10,000 are expected to participate in these games, another 1500 will be volunteering, among them people with disabilities and from various social groups. Special attention will also be paid to family inclusion.
The presentation of the TAFISA Games was hosted by the Lithuanian MEP dr. Laima Andrikiene who said that the Games are an event that truly promote European values and the European Union in the world and they deserve attention and the support of the European Parliament.

The Secretary-General of the TAFISA Wolfgang Baumann, expressed his satisfaction that the Institution representing all European citizens is paying special attention to this event. Baumann stressed the importance of fostering the heritage of different cultures and peoples. According to him, this event is a platform that will bring together different peoples of the world. "It is an event that will place special emphasis on fostering awareness about cultural and social heritage. This is why our games are supported by UNESCO, with whom we have launched a joint appeal for support", said TAFISA’ Secretary-General.

The presentation of the TAFISA Games in the European Parliament was led by the Deputy Mayor of Siauliai Municipality Daiva Matoniene and the Director of the Games Kestutis Petraitis. According to Daiva Matoniene, these games represent a great opportunity for countries from Europe and all over the world to present their traditional cultures and lifestyles. "This will be a very big event and we expect follow-up cooperation in many areas: sports, culture, science and social projects as well” – Deputy Mayor said.
